Five Indonesian footballers ready to play in East Asia

Right now, the J-League and the K-League are renowned as the two best divisions in Asia. Many players from these leagues have moved onto European clubs after honing their skills and technique. Moreover, there are many talent scouts from Europe who are looking at players from these leagues right now.


Japan or Korea could be a pathway for Indonesian talent to improve so that they can give better performances for the national team and one day move on to Europe. So here are five Indonesian players who could play for East Asian clubs and make a significant impact.

AHMAD BUSTOMI

Club: Mitra Kukar
Age: 26

Bustomi is known as one of the best midfielders in Indonesia at present, boasting plenty of ability in passing, dribbling and retaining the ball. His contribution in defensive midfield for Arema Indonesia and the Indonesian national team is vital. His experience in the Asian Champions League (ACL) this year with Arema made his name known in East Asia. Some Cerezo Osaka officials have monitored Arema and noted that Bustomi was the side’s most dangerous player.

BOAZ SOLOSSA

Club: Persipura Jayapura
Age: 25

Boaz is the best striker in Indonesia, and perhaps in South-East Asia right now. Several times he has claimed the top scorer award in Indonesia and his experience in the ACL, AFC Cup and national team suggest this is the best time for Boaz to play outside his homeland. Perhaps a club like Cerezo Osaka could be a good fit for him since they sold Adriano to Gamba Osaka early this season, with no replacement coming through. Boaz could be a strong choice for replacing the forward due to his skilful play and ability to surprise the goalkeeper.

FERDINAND SINAGA

Club: Semen Padang
Age: 23

Sinaga is one of the best young strikers in Indonesia. His ability, especially in creating goals and outwitting his opponents, can be stunning. The 23-year-old Bengkulu-born forward has lots of experience with Indonesia's Under-23 team and also the senior squad. Sinaga is said to be part of the next generation for Indonesia and could be seen as a natural replacement for Yoo Byung-Soo at Incheon United in Korea.

KURNIA MEIGA HERMANSYAH

Club: Arema Indonesia
Age: 21

Indonesia's U-23 coach, Rahmad Darmawan, said that Kurnia Meiga will be the best goalkeeper in South-East Asia if he is trained the right way. Kurnia Meiga won the half-season best player award in the 2009-10 Indonesia Super League season, while his contribution for Indonesia's U-23 team is vital too. His appearances in the ACL with Arema were quite positive as well; he showcased his fine reflexes to deny many shots. The keeper is still young, so he has time to develop, and a move to East Asia could suit him.

RICARDO SALAMPESSY

Club: Persipura Jayapura
Age: 27

Salampessy played a key role in helping Persipura clinch the Indonesian Super League title last term. The 27-year-old is one of the best defenders in Indonesia, helping Persipura forge the stingiest back line in Indonesia last term. Salampessy reads situations well and has a lot of experience with the national team along with his club in the ACL and AFC Cup. Age may not be on his side, but Salampessy would add value to many lower-ranking clubs in East Asia.
